To sum up, a routine sonogram last week showed fluid on the lungs, fluid and swelling on her brain, clef palate, kidneys not functioning properly, and only 3 chambers of her heart. We are scared and nervous, but trusting in our God to heal her. We've asked for your prayers at this time. Our hope is for this blog to be a place where we can provide updates and specific prayer requests.
Yesterday (12/30) I had an amniocentesis to determine if there is a chromosomal issue or genetic issue. Our prayer right now is that she is a healthy baby girl, but with these complications/defects as we hope she'd be a fighter and would survive through full term delivery, and be able to endure surgeries after birth (which is a hope in and of itself as there's a chance she might not even make it full term). If she has Down Syndrome or Trisomy 18 or Trisomy 13, we will most likely be seeing specialists at KU in Kansas City. We won't receive any results for approximately 2 or 3 weeks, so now is a time of waiting and prayer. If it would come back that we need to start seeing a specialist, please begin to pray now for God's provision of safe travels to and from appointments.
Thank you to all of you who have written us, prayed for us, and encouraged us at this time. Your prayers are felt and we are thankful for you all.
